Dunstan Educare Kaupapa
Tū mai e moko. Te whakaata o ō mātua. Te moko o ō tīpuna
Our philosophy at Dunstan whare ako is based on the holistic way in which we all learn. We believe everyone should be treated and respected as a whole person in mind, body, and spirit. Our mahi is founded on the principles, strands, and goals laid out in Te Whāriki in our Early Childhood Curriculum.
We embody the protection, partnership and participation that is an expression of the underlying tenets of Te Tiriti Waitangi. This guides us in the integration of a bicultural approach in all that we do. The recognition of the unique language, identity and culture of all learners ensures educational success and the realisation of aspirations.
We strongly believe collaborative learning partnerships are key to successful education outcomes. Whānaungatanga guides us in forming honest, respectful, reciprocal relationships with people, places and things.
We are part of a diverse community, and we believe in providing an environment where mana is protected and enhanced. We see diversity as a strength and the many cultures in our learning space as a window to the world
We acknowledge the importance of play in encouraging active participation. Play and spontaneity empowers confidence and learning. It allows for the development of social and emotional competencies in a meaningful context.
